A place to let go and heal

Three years ago  I took a great leap and decided to begin journeying into the world of backpacking.  My first trip was into the wondrous landscape of the Eastern Sierras where the mountains strike you with their massiveness, unpredictability, and stunning wind and water created curves and cravases.  Breathtaking to say the least. I was amazed how these Buddha like natural creations sat so humble awaiting our arrival.  I found the mountains allowed for my tiny human self to find inner strength with each new challenge they threw my way, whether it be a lightning storm, extreme levels of elevation, or uncrossable snow patches that forced us to find another path.  Not only do they present physical challenges that would seem insurmountable; testing your will, but they allow for nothing to be hidden, to inspire one to look within, and to remind us of our deep connection to the planet.   I am forever grateful to be gifted with the wisdom of the mountains, for taking a risk, and trusting my souls calling.

I have been incredibly inspired by my trips into the back country, so much so that I have named my company after my experiences. I also have increased awareness about  my role on the planet, and gained validation that my approach to body work is similar to walking in the mountains. And what are these similarities? Well, to make your way up the mountain you must take your time.  Its truly a step by step process, and that is exactly how I approach working with every body on the table.  Its about patience with self and with each unique body that so bravely gives themselves over to my care.  I can't speed up the process of deeply penetrating a muscle or massaging a stiff neck and expect true healing.  That would potentially cause more tension and more pain.  Its about listening; gathering all the pertinent information and creating a path of least resistance.  In body work as in the mountains, we must slow down and become present or else will get lost or hurt, forget our purpose, and lose the potential for healing.  The Sierras have taken my 12 years of experience in bodywork and brought it to a higher level.
